The Warriors Cage 6 - January 10, 2010
Porterville, CA - With 12 fights on the card and almost half of them pro-debut fighters, I expected a decent night of MMA action
to kick-off the year. Let me tell you, I was definitely excited from start-to-finish. Every fighter that came out tonight, came to fight and
give the fans some entertainment.
With the first fight between Isaac Arambul and Johnny Flores, both came out swinging and engaging in every opportunity they had. Arambul with
a bit more experience was able to sink in the rear naked choke after taking Flores' back in the middle of the round. The fight was stopped at
1:54 of the first round. Cleber Jiu-Jitsu's first win of the night.
Then came Kevin Koy, an unkown in my book before the fight started but he quickly jumped on the list after he dismantled Robbie Scott in 19 sec
of the fight. Solid power punches from Koy.
The only fight that seemed one-sided was Josh Herrick's fight which he out-matched his opponent on paper before and after the fight. I have to
give it up to Ben "Buddy" Guyer for taking the fight at the last minute but he needs to research who he is going to fight before signing the
contract. Herrick won by rear naked choke at 40 seconds of the first round. Cleber Jiu-Jitsu's second win of the night.
In a 3 round clinch battle, Richard McDarment out-pointed Jeff Montelongo by keeping busy throughout the night.

In the Fight of the Night, a less experienced, pro-debut Luis Jauregui gave the now 2-0 Cleber trained Joe Murphy a great fight. Both fighters
were going back and forth, Murphy's experienced carried him through the fight as Jauregui showed lots of heart by never having an ounce of quit
in him even after Murphy had a deep arm bar in the second round. I would not mind seeing this fight play out again in about 6 months when both
have more technique and experience under their belts. Great job guys and keep up with the training. Cleber's third win of the night.
In another bout of pro-debuts that wow-ed the crowd, Pro Buhawe's Dominic Clark took home the "W" with a Unanimous Decision victory over Mike
Conzachi. Both Mike and Dominic had their great moments in the bout but in the end as they both fought exhaustion, Clark's wrestling background
helped keep him in the winner's circle.
Travis Thompson had a tough first round as Mike Mendez landed some good shots early in the first round. But it was the second round where
Thompson's Jits training came into play with an early guillotine choke at 31 seconds of the round. Cleber's 4th win of the night.
Both Criss Ayala and Nick Mosqueda seemed to split the first round as both had rear naked choke attempts and both landed some good shots on
their opponent. The second round was more of the same until Ayala looked visibly gassed and Mosqueda was able to get in an arm bar that forced
Criss to tap at 2:51 of the second round.
In a much anticipated match-up between "Chevo" Montanez and Ty Souza as they both come from camps with Kajukenbo ties, the fight ended somewhat
early. Ty having a strong wrestling background came in looking for an early takedown, from my angle it looked like double-leg attempt, but "Chevo"
quickly recognized it and sunk in a very deep guillotine choke. After 31 ticks have come of the clock, Souza tapped. "Chevo" now moves to 3-0
in his young MMA career.

The only female bout of the night was a very exciting one as the Central Valley's popular female fighter Zoila Frausto's
younger sister Stephanie Frausto stepped into the cage for the first time against a very tough Erica Madrid, who was
also making her pro-debut. The fight opened up with Frausto landing a well placed teep kick on Madrid, but Erica quickly
gained ground as she landed some nice strikes while in the clinch. Both were going back and forth but unfortunately it
had to end as Madrid tired in the last moments of the round which followed another teep kick by Frausto. This sent Erica
to the cage gasping for air and Stephanie quickly jumped on her to finish the fight by TKO at 2:42 of the first round.
In a rubber match between Mike Cook and Warpath Ruben Villareal, we got to enjoy a solid first round as the fighters
both stood toe-to-toe most of the round picking each other off with punches. Late in the round, Cook was able to get
a takedown and soon after a rear naked choke. The bout was called at 4:57 of the first round.

Jiu-Jitsu specialist Felipe Fogolin and Wrestler Alijah Reni finished off the night as the main event. As everyone
expected the fight moved to the clinch early but as Reni went for a takedown, Fogolin was the one that actually scored
it. Alijah scrambled and both fighters rolled off the cage and somehow in the mix Felipe locked in a guillotine choke
from half guard and Reni tapped at 1:17 in the first.
Cleber's 5th win of the night.
Great matched up card, good job Loren. I can not wait until March 7th (I think this is the date for TWC 7) to see what
the Warriors Cage comes up with next. so far from what I have been hearing is Felipe Fogolin vs Jaime Jara??? A big
fight that will have everyone wanting to come see it. Also, Cleber Luciano himself versus an unknown opponent, possibly
Porterville's own and Garage trainer Paul Estrada. Just some ideas to ponder TWC.
