Porterville, CA - In a first for myself and probably most everyone in attendance the Warriors Cage and its fans
opened up the event with an acapella version of the Star Spangled Banner. When the Playboy Fight Night on Friday
did not even play it to start the event, something that is usually done at all major sporting events, the entire crowd
sang together, granted we are not the best singers, but because we sang it together it felt that much more special.
I would not mind doing it again for the next show. They turned a technical malfunction into something great. Good Job
Eagle Mountain Casino and I think we just started a New Tradition for every TWC from here on out.
The opening National Anthem was not the only thing that was good tonight. The 13 bouts put on by the TWC were entertaining as they always are and
have been getting better with every show.
Results:
Dakota Bell vs Andy Moreno
Opening up the night were Bell of Tule River and Moreno a local from the Garage in Porterville but the fight did not go very far.
Moreno shot in for an early takedown but Dakota was expecting it and sunk in a guillotine choke to stop the attempt.
Moments later Moreno was seen tapping and the ref stopped the bout at 54 seconds into the round.
Steven Urias vs Jerry Puga
Steven of Cleber Jiu-Jitsu gets an early takedown on Puga and works for position. After securing a full mount Urias
let loose some strikes and Jerry Puga could not take the hits and tapped at 43 seconds into the fight.
Edward Montoya vs Somephone Soyinthisune
In an exciting 2 round fight, Somephone and Edward put on a good show. Both fighters exchanged early getting the crowd to cheer.
Somephone was able to get a takedown in the mix and work a few strikes from Montoya's guard, giving him the edge in the first round.
In the second, both fighters looked tired but still exchanged throughout the round. At the end of the second Somephone had trouble getting to his corner
and when the bell rang to start the third round, Somephone's corner called the bout. Montoya gets the win.
Marion Reneau vs Chantalle Castellanos
In a fight of guts and heart, Marion and Chantalle gave the fans a great reason to cheer for.
But it was all Marion as she used her reach to an advantage and hurting Chantalle early in the first.
Castellanos kept coming forward regardless of what Reneau threw at her and did some damage of her own in the fight.
But in the end the long reach was just too much and the fight was called at 1:38 in the third round.
David Sierra vs Kevin Koy
Kevin opened the bout the same as he did on his first fight out at the TWC with stiff strong striking. Koy followed it up
with a takedown and ground and pound. At the end of the first, Sierra was able to get a takedown and some strikes before the closing bell. This was the TWC Fight of the Night.
In the second round, both fighters exchanged takedowns but it was Sierra that landed more punches edging out the round.
The third and final round both fighters were tired and exchanged seldomly. Koy seemed to land more punches in the round and the judges gave him the split decision victory.
Owen Rubio vs Louie Perez
In a street fight style of bout, Owen Rubio and Louie Perez gave the fans 1:37 seconds of non-stop flying haymakers. At the end of the whirlwind
Louie Perez ended up on the canvas and his corner calling an end to the fight.
John Moore vs Dominic Clark
Dominic Clark used his wrestling background to get an early takedown and control the fight. Clark relaxed and focused, worked for position on his opponent
John Moore. Once in position Clark went and submitted Moore at 2:55 into the fight.
Clark improves to 2-0.
CJ Keith vs Fernando Arreola
CJ used his reach and kept Fernando at bay. Arreola struggled throughout the fight to get in and get a takedown but he was able to land a few punches.
Later in the round, Keith landed a flying knee that sent Fernando to the mat out cold. The ref stopped the bout at 3:15 in the first round. CJ is credited with a KO win and TWC Knockout of the Night.
Nick Montgomery vs Eusevio "Chevo" Montanez
Chevo had control of this fight from the beginning. From the initial stand-up exchanges to the first takedown.
Chevo was more relaxed on this fight than any of his previous outings, it definitely shows that he is continuing to work on his game.
After a ref timeout for an illegal punch to the back of Montgomery's head, the fighting resumed. Montanez once again got the takedown
and proceeded to finish off his opponent by TKO due to strikes at 2:38 of the first round.
Travis Thompson vs Augie Garcia
"The Gorilla" Travis Thompson takes this fight in the second round by rear naked choke at 1:59. Both fighters exchanged in both rounds but Thompson had just a bit more in him to get in the submission.
Trisha Pinon vs Stephanie Frausto
In what was considered an upset in the fight, Madera's Trisha Pinon defeated fellow Maderan Stephanie Frausto by way of an arm bar at 2:18 of the first round. Opening the fight, Stephanie landed some good kicks
and had two takedowns in the fight but made one error and Trisha capitalized on it to get the sub and the win. I believe its the first win for the new Torres MMA Camp in Madera so Congrats guys and keep up the hard work.
Isaac Arambul vs Ralph Alvarado
In a fight that was contender for the fight of the night both Isaac Arambul and Ralph Alvarado gave it their all in the fight. Isaac showed tremendous
heart in this fight that had him in some very tight spots but never quit. The great fight finally came to an end in the second round by TKO due to strikes, the win going to Pro Buhawe's Ralph Alvarado.
Cleber Luciano vs Mateo Pena
In this one-sided fight and last minute fill-in, Cleber Luciano seemed to play with his opponent until getting the arm bar submission at 2:11 of the first round.
