A Lifetime Ban should be the punishment given to these athletes who do not want to compete fairly with the rest of the world. Do that and the number of failed drug test would almost be non-existent. The consequences of cheating in this type of a physical sport is not like cheating in track or in tennis. In the other sports the extra speed and strength will never lead to endangering the life of the opponent. Therefore, the lifetime ban seems fit for those who cross the line in MMA and boxing not just for ped's but other ways of cheating ie. Antonio Margarito in boxing and his handwrap ordeal.
