Well the MMA Politics wheel was definitely turning overnight as Michael McDonald has pulled out of the Chris David Fight att the Warriors Cage because the Tachi Palace has signed him to fight WEC Veteran Manny Tapia at TPF 3 on Feb 4, 2010.
Manny Tapia (16-3) was undefeated up until December of last year when he faced Miguel Torres for the WEC 135lb belt.
This is a great fight for both Manny and Michael and I cannot lie, I am a bit more excited about this fight than the Chris David one. Once again Tachi uses their money and MMA experience to set up a monster fight. Great, great fight!
**Old Story on the Chris David vs Michael McDonald below**
The contracts are out and waiting to be signed and faxed back. Chris David the current Pure Combat 135 lb will face Michael "Mayday" McDonald at The Warriors Cage 6 on January 10, 2010.
Michael McDonald boasts a record of 8-1 with his only defeat coming to the Valley's # 1 ranked 35er, Cole Escovedo. Being only 18 years old, Mikey, as his brother Justin calls him, is not only a rising star in the Central Valley but he is one of the 135lbers that is set to leave his mark in the MMA world before his time is done.
Chris "The Dark Lotus" David is 13-7-2 with a 4 fight win streak and is the current Pure Combat 135 lb Champ. Chris is a work-horse type fighter that fights from bell-to-bell and will wear his opponents down. David has been a very active fighter in recent years but has had trouble finding an opponent in 2009. His only fight this year was in October with a Unanimous Decision victory over Paul McVeigh (15-6).
Go and get your tickets early because this fight will back up all the hype that comes with it.
