Central Valley Showdown Grappling Pictures

Visalia, CA – Saturday was the inaugural grappling tournament put on by Central Valley Martial Arts (CVMA) and was held at Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia California. Tom Owens of CVMA wanted to put on an event where all the grapplers from the valley could come together and compete to see who the best grappler really is.

The event brought people from all walks of life from the young to the old, the beginners to the elite of the Central Valley.

To be honest it was one of the longest grappling tournaments I have ever witnessed in the valley, a total of 7 hours, but because of the slow pace I was able to see most of the matches. Usually there are 3-to-5 matches going on at once and it is nearly impossible to see them all. I do not know if it was planned or just some disorganization, which is expected on a first show, but I really enjoyed being able to see all the matches.

Top honors of the day go to Paul Estrada and Joe Soto both of ‘The Garage’ out of Porterville, soon to be Porterville MMA, for finishing 1-2 in the absolute division and for each winning their respective weight division.

I would definitely recommend this tournament to everyone regardless of skill level because it was very stacked talent-wise and it also had a lot of beginners participating. You could easily make this a family event as there was also a kids division with children as young as 5 years of age participating. BloodyMayhem would like to thank Tom Owens and Central Valley Martial Arts for letting us attend.

Once again, BloodyMayhem.com provides the best coverage for an event offering the best and most pictures over any other sources combined.

The Arreola brothers dominated their respective weight division, both taking home the gold. Fernando's little brother captured the Bantamweight division even after weighing in at 112lbs.
