Opening up the night bringing a huge fan base were Jesus Castro and Paul Ruiz. Despite the talent behind both fighters this fight went 1:17 seconds when Ruiz ended it with great use of his hands and elbows on a ground and pound TKO for the youngsters first professional fight.
Bellators 115 lb Womens Champion from last season Zoila Frausto-Gurgel demonstrated why she is the champ by scoring a unanimous decision victory, 3 rounds to none, over Karina Hallinan.
Undefeated fighter Brandon Bender kept his record intact after submitting local favorite Josh Herrick with a guillotine at 3:42 of the first round. Herrick is a promising fighter in the area and I would like to see him get back in there.
Journeyman fighter Waachiim Spiritwolf caught most of the crowd by surprise as he controlled most of the fight against the ever so popular Jaime Jara. At the end of three the judges scored it 30-27, 29-28, 28-29 in favor of the San Diego fighter Waachiim Spiritwolf.

Brent Weedman takes a decision win away from Dan Hornbuckle, scoring both the first and second rounds in his favor with the third belonging to Hornbuckle.
Jim Wallhead and Rick Hawn battled it out for 15 minutes with Hawn getting the edge in all three rounds. Rick moves on to the semifinals of the tournament.
Jay Hieron advances to the next round after a controversial win over Anthony Lapsley. From our angle and the replays angle it looked as if the referee stopped the bout a bit early as Hieron had a rear naked choke on Lapsley. The ref thought Anthony was out but when the choke was released Lapsley complained that he was in control the entire time. Officially it goes down as a RNC win for Hieron at 3:59 in the first round.
Chris Lozano and Lyman Good gave the fans a great fight to end the night. It was back and forth action through all three rounds. In the end Lyman took the decision win over Lozano.
